National flu immunisation programme 2026 to 2027
The NHS will begin providing the main adult flu vaccination programme on October 1st 2026 to ensure optimal protection during peak winter months. For the 2026/27 season, bookings will open for the public in September, with vaccinations starting on October 1, 2026.

When to Book: Appointments usually become available to book via the NHS App, local GP practice, or by searching NHS find a pharmacy for local options, starting in September.
Target Group: The vaccine is prioritised for people that are:
65 and over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2026)
18-65 who have certain health conditions
Pregnant
In long-stay residential care
Carers
Frontline Health & Social Care Staff
Patients with weakened immune system
Household contacts of patients with weakened immune system.
Exceptions: Some groups, such as those needing early vaccination due to specific illnesses, may start earlier.
Duration: The vaccination programme usually runs until the end of March, with a focus on completing most vaccinations by the end of November. NHS England
